Taking It To The Streets, Street Fair to Return to Sleepy Hollow

Hundreds of people will take in the beauty of an autumn day while browsing through unique booths, indulging in delectable treats and enjoying family entertainment when the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Sleepy Hollow present a one-day street fair on Sunday, Sept 14th.

The Sleepy Hollow Street Fair will take place on Beekman Avenue, from 10 am to 5 pm Sunday, September 14.

Approximately 80 vendors will sell everything fathomable including clothes, accessories, plants, household products, art, antiques and home decor. Many of the restaurants will participate in giving everyone a chance to taste the wonderful menus presented in the many fine restaurants that have opened in Sleepy Hollow. Brian Doyle, owner of JP Doyle’s, will be hosting a "Beer Fest" to add to the festivities. "It will be a great way to kickoff the fall," Doyle said. In addition, a children’s area will provide youngsters with entertainment including a bounce house, a rock climbing wall, face painting and arts and crafts.

On the same day the Ginsberg Development Corporation will be holding the Ferry Go Round Hudson River event. This year Ferry Go Round celebrates its fifth anniversary and includes Sleepy Hollow as one of the towns the ferries will board and disembark from. Ferry Go Round takes place from 11am to 6pm. Ferries will board at Horans Landing on River Street. Free shuttle buses will be available to transport participants to and from the Beekman Avenue Street Fair and historic sites in Sleepy Hollow, including Philipburg Manor and the Old Dutch Church. Tickets are available at Horans Landing on the day of the event. Other Villages on the Ferry Go Round stops include Haverstraw, Ossining and Peekskill.

The Sleepy Hollow merchants are very excited that the Street Fair is returning to Sleepy Hollow, knowing it has been several years since the last one. The fair brings people from all over the county to the Village and gives the merchants an opportunity to see what our unique Village has to offer. With the Ferry Go Round event the same day, people from across the river will also have an opportunity to enjoy what Sleepy Hollow has to offer.

JoAnne Murray, President of the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce, is excited to bring the street fair back to Sleepy Hollow and appreciates the cooperation of the Village Adminstration, the Recreation Department, the DPW and the Police Department to make this happen. "This event should be bigger and better than ever and we look forward to this being an annual event. "

Karin Wompa, Trustee from the Village of Sleepy Hollow, has worked closely with the Chamber to organize the event. Karin says, "It’s great to have an event like the Street Fair to get the residents of Sleepy Hollow excited about their Village and all it has to offer, and with Ferry Go Round also coming to Sleepy Hollow we should have a great turnout. We would love more events like this in the future for our villagers to enjoy."
