SUMMARY:The Cut Loose: A Harlem Brownstone Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a work-in-process concert of excerpts from The Cut Loose: A Harlem Brownstone Ritual\, followed by a conversation with the audience. \nThe Cut Loose will premiere next year as an immersive experience in a Harlem brownstone transformed into a living archive of Black cultural memory. This performance at the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center offers an early look\, as award-winning choreographer and director Jeffrey Page and his creative team present a selection of songs from the show. \nThe Cut Loose centers on Mimi and her profound love for Kidd Bunky\, a man who is brilliant\, charismatic\, full of promise\, and notoriously unfaithful. When Mimi realizes love has not made him hers\, she turns to Marie Laveau\, the legendary 19th-century New Orleans spiritual leader who was both a lifelong Roman Catholic and the city’s most renowned Voudou priestess. \nWhat first appears to be a house gathering reveals itself as a New Orleans jazz funeral. It is not only a farewell to Kidd Bunky\, but also a collective act of release\, honoring the people\, traditions\, and moments that shape us even as they move beyond our grasp. \nInspired by Arthur Hall’s groundbreaking 1977 production Fat Tuesday & All That Jazz\, this new work explores Black Mardi Gras\, Black Masking traditions\, New Orleans ritual life\, jazz\, and cultural survival. Rather than reconstructing Hall’s original work\, The Cut Loose enters into dialogue with it\, asking how these traditions evolved as they traveled across generations and geographies. \nBlending theater\, music\, ritual\, and communal experience\, The Cut Loose is a celebration of resilience\, remembrance\, and transformation. It is an invitation to honor what we love by learning how to let it move.  \nThis event will be followed by a reception in the DR Center Gallery\, now showing Woven Wonders: Kykuit’s Picasso Tapestries.  \nGuests may arrive 45 minutes prior to the event start time to enjoy the new Sculpture Walk outside the DR Center. Please note that events will begin promptly at their scheduled start time. DESCRIPTION:As part of his residency at The Pocantico Center\, artist Alejandro Piñeiro Bello opens his studio inside the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center to the public. Visitors will also be able to visit the DR Center Gallery\, now showing Woven Wonders: Kykuit’s Picasso Tapestries. \nPiñeiro Bello will be presenting a new body of watercolor works developed during his time at Pocantico. Drawing on the landscape\, architecture\, and history of the estate grounds\, this collection reflects his ongoing exploration of place\, memory\, and light through watercolor.   \nVisitors will have the opportunity to view the works in progress and speak with the artist about his process and creative influences.  \nGuests may enjoy the new Sculpture Walk outside the DR Center.  \n​Presented in partnership with the RBF Culpeper Arts & Culture program and the Cuban Artists Fund.

SUMMARY:Outdoor Sound Bath and Meditation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:As the sun sets\, lie down and immerse yourself in the sonic landscape of gongs\, singing bowls\, and other harmonic instruments. Participants will engage in mindful listening and positive intention-setting\, guided by sound and silence\, to enter deeply relaxing\, healing\, and meditative states of consciousness.   \nThis workshop is 75 minutes long and is open to participants aged 16 and up.  Please bring a yoga mat and blanket. Participants will be situated on the grass. \nParticipants are invited to stay after the workshop to view the exhibition Woven Wonders: Kykuit’s Picasso Tapestries in the DR Center Gallery.  \n​Guests may arrive 30 minutes prior to the event start time to enjoy the new Sculpture Walk outside the DR Center. Please note that events will begin promptly at their scheduled start time. SUMMARY:Ensemble Connect Up Close: Biribá Union
DESCRIPTION:Ensemble Connect and Biribá Union invite audiences to the rehearsal room for a real-time look at artistic collaboration. During a residency at The Pocantico Center\, made possible by The Rockefeller Foundation\, Ensemble Connect fellows will collaborate with Biribá Union to explore a new musical style and develop a concept for their Ensemble Connect Up Close performance at Carnegie Hall in May 2027. \nThis performance offers a rare glimpse into the creative conversations\, experimentation\, and musical exchange that drive collaborative performance. Drawing on Brazilian\, jazz\, folk\, and hip-hop musical traditions\, Biribá Union’s genre-defying approach provides an inspiring creative partner for Ensemble Connect’s extraordinary young musicians. \nEleven Ensemble Connect fellows will be joined by Biribá Union’s cellist and vocalist Mike Block\, beatboxer and guitarist Christylez Bacon\, and electric bassist and vocalist Patricia Ligia. A discussion and audience Q&A with the musicians of Ensemble Connect and Biribá Union will follow the performance. \nThis work-in-process showing will be presented during Ensemble Connect’s residency at The Pocantico Center and is part of a larger show being developed for Carnegie Hall’s Resnick Education Wing on May 5.  \nThis event will be followed by a reception in the DR Center Gallery\, now showing Woven Wonders: Kykuit’s Picasso Tapestries. \nPresented in partnership with the RBF Culpeper Arts & Culture program and Carnegie Hall. \nAll sales final; no refunds.

DESCRIPTION:The Divine Project supports\, invigorates\, and expands the practices of queer and transgender artists of color whose work challenges the status quo and makes way for social change.   \nConcluding a weeklong residency at Pocantico\, seven artist fellows from the Project will present a constellation of performances and workshops that incorporate sound\, movement\, drawing\, and ritual.
