The Painter’s Studio

"I have always looked at the world through painter’s eyes." Geoff Barbey studied fine art at Colorado State University, The School of Visual Arts in New York City and the Art Students League.

As he tells it, "life can sweep you along like a river and it often carries you far from the thing you love the most. I love to paint." After careers in film production, advertising and finally as an agent for film directors, he walked away to study painting full time. That was 6 years ago.

He has opened The Painters Studio, a comfortable north light space offering day and evening studio oil painting classes in Dobbs Ferry. "I offer a traditional approach to painting, with an emphasis on form, value and the prismatic flow of light creating the illusion of light on canvas." Class size is limited to six painters with a new still life each week. Students are encouraged to work on outside projects during class as well. You can see some of his work at www.barbeystudio.blogspot.com. The Painters Studio, 145 Palisade Street, Suite 316.
