The Joy of Dance, Steffi Nossen School Invites All to Free Classes

Are you looking for a new "Dance Home"? The Steffi Nossen School of Dance invites you to join in a Free Week of Dance. Whether you or your child is a recreational dancer, a serious pre-professional, or a dancer with special needs, the Steffi Nossen School of Dance has the right classes for you.

During the week of January 12–17, 2009, they invite you try any of their classes free of charge.

The program of curriculum-based classes is taught to live music. Modern Dance classes for 3-7 year olds are designed to develop creativity while teaching technique and proper body alignment. Modern/Jazz and Jazz for grades 4 and up introduce and explore the rhythm, styles, and music of the Jazz idiom. The program features a May performance and family visiting days. This program is offered at the school’s central studios at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, as well as at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Chappaqua, Scarsdale Baptist Church, and St. Bartholomew’s Church in White Plains.

Technique classes in Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Theater Dance, and Hip-Hop for youngsters and adults, Classical Story Ballet using stories, songs and props, as well as Choreography Workshops appealing to youngsters who enjoy creating their own work, are all available at our studios in the Music Conservatory of Westchester building at 216 Central Avenue, White Plains.

For those youngsters wanting more intense dance study and performance, there is a Master Class program for students in grades 4–12 and performance ensembles culminating in the Steffi Nossen Dance Company which performs throughout Westchester.

Students with special needs – physical, developmental, or emotional – have a program of their own: Moving Wheels and Heels. These integrated, adaptive classes help students experience the joy of moving to live music, combining technique and improvisation to increase strength, range of motion, and expressing creativity.

All faculty members hold college dance program degrees and professional performance experience. The Steffi Nossen School of Dance is a program of the not-for-profit Dance in Education Fund – an organization making dance opportunities more available for Westchester dance students, professionals, and audiences. All Steffi Nossen classes emphasize the joy and freedom of dance as well as technique.
