This past February we wrote a story about a Tarrytown resident, Gisela Marin, whose daughter, Jessica Santos, was fatally shot the day before she was to return to college.

Ms. Marin wants to celebrate what would have been Jessica’s 20th Birthday by having a Memorial Walk and Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 22nd. The "Day" will start in Patriot’s Park in Tarrytown and forms for pre-registration can be found online at www.rememberingjessica.com. There will also be registration at the Patriot’s Park from 10-11a.m. on the day of the event. We have published a letter written by her and we invite our readers to consider becoming a part of the day in whatever way they can.
As a parent I can think of no greater loss than that of a child. Gisela Marin is a courageous woman who wants to take something so tragic and turn it into an event that celebrates life and learning.
