This year’s event is thoughtfully timed to coincide with beloved local happenings—such as the annual October window painting— creating exceptionally vibrant opportunities to celebrate local creativity while amplifying visibility for both artists and local merchants. \nArt for Purchase is a public art project that reimagines storefronts as intimate stages for local and regional artists\, cultivating a rich dialogue between creativity\, commerce\, and community. As you browse shop windows or linger along the sidewalk\, you’ll discover unexpected moments of inspiration—artworks that spark reflection and delight amid the hum of daily routines. Their energy\, craftsmanship\, vision are outstanding. Some make us laugh\, some just plain blow us away. Energy\, artistry\, and imagery all are here. Some are conceptional\, some more traditional. Each artist has a vision and a style\, a practice. Their chosen material(s) reflect their interest. Many started with clay and then moved to other media.\nClay by Joel Brown and Tony Moore. SUMMARY:The Divine Project
DESCRIPTION:The Divine Project supports\, invigorates\, and expands the practices of queer and transgender artists of color whose work challenges the status quo and makes way for social change.   \nConcluding a weeklong residency at Pocantico\, seven artist fellows from the Project will present a constellation of performances and workshops that incorporate sound\, movement\, drawing\, and ritual. Together\, their works-in-process reflect the Project’s commitment to art made with and for community\, reimagining how we gather\, listen\, and care for one another. \nFollowing the presentations\, the artists will gather onstage for a discussion and audience Q&A. \nThe Divine Project fellows are are Crystal Clarity\, lee hooper\, Fatima Jamal\, Khari Johnson-Ricks\, Mai’yah Kau\, Julia Rocha-Nava\, and Amina Ross. \nPresented in partnership with Eureka! and Public Assistants.   \nThis event will be followed by a reception in the DR Center Gallery\, now showing Woven Wonders: Kykuit’s Picasso Tapestries.  \nGuests may arrive 45 minutes prior to the event start time to enjoy the new Sculpture Walk outside the DR Center. Please note that events will begin promptly at their scheduled start time. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of staff. \nAll sales final; no refunds.

DESCRIPTION:The Fall (2006) 1h57m\nDirected by: Tarsem Singh \nFilm Description:\nIn a hospital on the outskirts of 1920s Los Angeles\, an injured stuntman begins to tell a fellow patient\, a little girl with a broken arm\, a fantastic story about 5 mythical heroes. Thanks to his fractured state of mind and her vivid imagination\, the line between fiction and reality starts to blur as the tale advances.\n-Philadelphia Film Society \nPrior to the screening\, guest speaker Gabrielle Vines\, will present an introduction and lead a post-screening discussion. Vines is an alumna of the SUNY Purchase Cinema and Television Studies Program. Vines has served as a student juror in the film festival “Nouvelles Vagues” and worked in film programming at SUNY Purchase as the coordinator of the FMS Weekly Screening Series. Light refreshments provided. Donations appreciated.
