DESCRIPTION:Presented by Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music\, cellist Nicholas Canellakis leads a program centered on Ernst von Dohnányi’s sextet for the unique combination of piano\, violin\, viola\, cello\, clarinet\, and horn. Canellakis and emerging artists will open the program with virtuosic duos by Schumann and Halvorsen and the lyrical Brahms Clarinet Trio. SUMMARY:Horszowski Trio
DESCRIPTION:The Horszowski Trio has quickly become a vital force in the international chamber music world since their formation in 2011. In 2023\, the “Horszowski Trio Prize” was created by the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition\, to award piano trio winners. The trio consists of pianist Rieko Aizawa\, violinist Jesse Mills and cellist Ole Akahoshi. Their program commemorates the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death. It includes these Beethoven works: Trio in C minor\, Op. 1\, No. 3; Three Equali for Four Trombones and Trio in B-flat Major\, Op. 97\, “Archduke.” In addition\, the trio will present the second movement from Trio No. 2 in E-flat Major\, Op. 100 by Schubert and a new work\, “Homage to Beethoven” by Dániel Dobri.  \nSocialize and meet the artists at our post-concert reception. \nFor more information and to purchase tickets\, go to: https://friendsofmusicconcerts.org/fomc2026-27/
