During a residency at The Pocantico Center\, made possible by The Rockefeller Foundation\, Ensemble Connect fellows will collaborate with Biribá Union to explore a new musical style and develop a concept for their Ensemble Connect Up Close performance at Carnegie Hall in May 2027. \nThis performance offers a rare glimpse into the creative conversations\, experimentation\, and musical exchange that drive collaborative performance. Drawing on Brazilian\, jazz\, folk\, and hip-hop musical traditions\, Biribá Union’s genre-defying approach provides an inspiring creative partner for Ensemble Connect’s extraordinary young musicians. \nEleven Ensemble Connect fellows will be joined by Biribá Union’s cellist and vocalist Mike Block\, beatboxer and guitarist Christylez Bacon\, and electric bassist and vocalist Patricia Ligia. SUMMARY:The Life & Times of Theodore Cornu
DESCRIPTION:Theodore Cornu (1884-1985) was an artist\, canoe builder\, and environmental pioneer who inspired Pete Seeger and many others in the early environmental movement—but died in obscurity. He lived for twenty-five years in the Ferry House of the Van Cortlandt Manor. There he built Native American-style canoes—one as long as forty feet—and devoted himself to the conservation of the Hudson River. In 1936 he was one of the founders of the Hudson River Conservation Society. DESCRIPTION:The Fall Tag Sale hosted by The Manor Club at 1023 Esplanade\, Pelham\, NY\, will be held Friday and Saturday\, September 25-26\, 2026\, from 10 am to 4 pm each day. Entry is free. For $5\, you may enjoy early access at 9:30 am.\nShop at our indoor event for new and gently used items. In addition to our tag sale\, you will have access to a variety of vendors. If you would like to participate as a vendor\, you may reserve an 8-ft table for $50 or two 8-ft tables for $75.\nThe Manor Club is accepting community merchandise donations by appointment.
