SUMMARY:Tree Care 101: Tree Root Systems & Air Spade Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Tree Root Systems Seminar & Air Spade Demonstration\nApril 18\, 2026 | 10:00-11:15 AM \nFriends of Kensico Cemetery is offering a free Tree Root Systems Seminar and Air Spade Demonstration on April 18 from 10 to 11:15 AM. \nTree root systems are the “engine” of the tree\, yet they are often the least understood. Home gardeners\, landscapers\, and anyone responsible for tree care will learn how tree roots grow\, the effects of soil conditions on root health\, and how improper techniques affect long-term tree stability and survival. The program will also include a live air spade demonstration\, illustrating how arborists safely expose root systems to assess and address common problems. Designed for home gardeners\, beginners\, and green-industry professionals. Please RSVP via the event page.

SUMMARY:CAHOOTS
DESCRIPTION:The Manor Club Theatre at 1023 Esplanade\, Pelham\, NY\, presents CAHOOTS\, a hilarious comedy by Rick Johnston\, directed by Elizabeth Paldino. \nKen and Jan’s swanky 1990s Manhattan apartment sets the stage for a dinner party that goes spectacularly off the rails. Jan and her pal Lois are prepping for the night\, but Lois’s husband\, Al\, obsessed with neighborhood crime\, decides to “prove a point” to his wife and dinner guests\, which becomes “deadly” hilarious. Things get nuttier as the evening progresses. While serving up sharp banter and wild one-liners\, it turns out that surviving dinner with friends is way riskier than dodging Manhattan street crime! \nFridays & Saturdays\, April 10\, 11\, 17\, and 18 at 7:30pm\nSundays\, April 12 and 19 at 2:00 pm \nTickets: https://tmcofpelham.org/events\nMembers $25/Guests $30/At the Door $35\nFor Group Sales or more information\, call 914.738.1528

DESCRIPTION:As part of the annual RecruitNY statewide initiative\, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department (BMFD) will open its doors on Sunday\, April 19th from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM so residents can learn how they can serve their volunteer fire department and EMS. The department is located at 1111 Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor\, N.Y. \nVolunteer fire departments across New York state have been faced with decreased membership and increased call volume. Like most volunteer fire departments\, the BMFD needs to bolster its ranks so it can continue to provide the optimum level of protection for its residents. \nDuring the Open House hours\, the BMFD will conduct tours of the station and apparatus\, allow visitors to operate a fire hose\, demonstrate firefighting and ambulance service activities\, and address questions about becoming a member. The Briarcliff Manor Police Department will feature one of their cars and a motorcycle. The NY State Troopers will operate their vehicle rollover simulator and the BMFD Safety Team will teach fire prevention. There will be free food\, beverages\, and fire truck rides for all attendees. \nThese activities give visitors a taste of what it means to be in the fire and ambulance service. Volunteer firefighters will also be on hand to discuss the requirements and rewards of joining. All are welcome and encouraged to attend\, especially families with children. \n “We welcome the community to join us during RecruitNY Sunday\,” said Chief Arie Uyterlinde “This is an excellent opportunity for people to meet their local volunteer first responders and learn more about the fire and EMS service. We are always looking for new members\, and we hope that after meeting us\, more people will be interested in becoming part of our family.” \nThe Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) is committed to assisting New York’s 1\,700-plus volunteer departments to connect with their communities and have sufficient members to protect them properly. Established in 2011\, RecruitNY is an undertaking of FASNY. It is made possible by the continuing support and generosity of Lincoln Financial Group (LFG). \nFor more information\, visit www.bmfd.org/join.

Things get nuttier as the evening progresses.
