Following the play\, we will screen a short epilogue film and open the floor to audience questions and discussion. \nEXTENDED SYNOPSIS \nThe intake questionnaire used by the United States immigration court for an unaccompanied minor contains forty questions. The child’s answers can determine whether they obtain a lawyer\, whether their case moves forward\, whether they are allowed to remain\, or whether they are sent back. Valeria Luiselli translated these responses as a volunteer in New York immigration courts and transformed the experience into Tell Me How It Ends\, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. \nLinn Cary Mehta adapted the essay into a twenty-question monologue. Germán Jaramillo directs\, and Sandra Gumuzzio carries the piece alone onstage\, with original music by Pablo Mayor and Carlos Durán. The voices of young migrants supported by Unidad Latina en Acción (ULA) are woven into the work. These young people have courageously shared their experiences traveling to the United States as unaccompanied minors. For their safety\, their names are not disclosed. \nThe work moves beyond the fleeting impact of a news story. It offers a lasting understanding of what migration means in real life and asks audiences to listen\, to bear witness\, and to act. \nABOUT THE EPILOGUE \nThe epilogue is a short film created to accompany the piece. Germán Jaramillo conducts the interviews\, Nicole Fernández serves as cinematographer and editor\, Ximena Zuluaga oversees general production\, and ID Studio Theater serves as executive producer. It is a Somondoco Films production in collaboration with Unidad Latina en Acción\, an organization led by John Jairo Lugo. For their safety\, the names of the participating children are not disclosed. SUMMARY:Kids Short Story Connection Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Creative Writing Thrives in Greenburgh! \nDoes your child love to read and write stories? Or do you know a child who does? September 19th is the kickoff date for the fall 2026 session of Saturday morning Kids Short Story Connection workshops. Thirty-three years ago\, the very first KSSC workshop was held in the Greenburgh Library with 10 kids between 9 and 12 years old. Today\, the Kids Short Story Connection meets at Greenburgh Town Hall (as well as over the Zoom platform). Young writers are assigned to workshops according to age and writing levels. This separation ensures that young writers meet in our round-table sessions with their creative-writing peers. All workshops are led by published authors/teachers. Each workshop has no more than 10 participants. This ensure that there is enough time for writing and sharing of work written during the workshop sessions. The two in-person workshops for kids between 9 and 14 meet at Greenburgh Town Hall on Saturday mornings from 10 am until 12 noon. The Advanced workshop for advanced writers 14 and over meets over the Zoom platform at the same time.

Based on the remarkable true story of the 7\,000 airline passengers unexpectedly stranded in the small town of Gander\, Newfoundland\, following the events of September 11\, 2001\, this uplifting musical celebrates the compassion that emerged on that tragic day. As frightened travelers from around the world find themselves welcomed by a community of just 9\,000 residents\, strangers become neighbors\, cultures collide in heartwarming and humorous ways\, and lasting friendships are forged. Filled with an energetic Celtic-inspired score\, unforgettable characters\, and moments of laughter and hope\, Come From Away is a moving theatrical experience that reminds us of the goodness people are capable of when they come together. It’s a powerful celebration of generosity\, resilience\, and the enduring belief that even in times of uncertainty\, humanity shines brightest. \nThe original Broadway production of Come From Away opened in 2017\, featuring book\, music\, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The musical quickly became an international sensation\, earning seven Tony Award nominations\, including Best Musical\, and winning the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical. It also received the Olivier Award for Best New Musical and has captivated audiences around the world with productions across North America\, Europe\, Australia\, and beyond. In honor of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks\, the Broadway production was filmed and released on Apple TV+ in 2021. This gave even more folks access to this incredible musical from the comfort of their own homes during a time when live theater was just starting to come back following the COVID-19 shut down. Inspired by the real people who opened their hearts to thousands of strangers\, Come From Away continues to resonate with audiences through its timeless message of compassion and community. Don’t miss this unforgettable\, uplifting story. You’ll laugh\, you’ll cry\, and you’ll leave feeling hopeful. \n“A celebration of the best of humankind… This is a musical that restores your faith in people.” –The Guardian \nWHEN: Fri.
