SUMMARY:Game of Hope - Croton Varsity Softball Charity Game
DESCRIPTION:Croton-Harmon Varsity Softball To Host “Game of Hope” to Raise Mental Health Awareness – Friday May 15th at 5:30pm \nThe Croton-Harmon Varsity Softball Team is excited to invite you to our annual charity game\, now known as The Game of Hope. Formerly the Pink and Teal Game\, this year’s event will focus on raising awareness for mental health\, in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month. All proceeds from the night will go back to NAMI Westchester. \n“This cause is especially important to our players\, as mental health affects not only student-athletes\, but our entire community. This is more than just a softball game for us. It’s a chance to come together\, support one another\, and show that no one has to face these challenges alone. Our team is proud to take the field with a purpose; swinging the bats to help end the stigma around mental health.” said Head Varsity Softball Coach\, Stephanie Gaudinier. \nOpening ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM at Firefighters Field. There will be plenty to enjoy throughout the night\, including food\, treats\, games\, prizes\, and a 50/50 raffle. We hope families\, friends\, and the Croton community will come out not only to support a great cause\, but also to enjoy a competitive and exciting game. \nThis event is part of a larger initiative led by our Athletic Director\, Christine Drago\, and the athletic department to raise awareness about mental health among all of our students; not just student athletes. Throughout the week\, Tigers will be participating in activities and workshops focused on education\, support\, and wellness. The Game of Hope will bring the week to a close and lead into NAMI Westchester’s Mental Health Walk on Saturday\, May 16th at Ridge Road Park. \nWe’d love to see as many people there as possible. Come out and support our players as we take on North Salem and be part of something that truly matters!

SUMMARY:Philipse Manor Hall Pinkster Jubilee 2026
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Afro-Dutch holiday of Pinkster\, a festival of spring\, family\, culture\, and resistance with live music\, dance\, games\, crafts\, vendors\, history\, & more! Free for everyone! PLUS Pinkster Jubilee 2026 coincides with Yonkers Arts Weekend! Celebrate African culture in America and New York’s unique history! For the fourth year in a row\, Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site celebrates Pinkster with a Jubilee – we’ll feature live music and performances\, free kids’ activities\, crafts\, and games\, and visit vendors specializing in African and African-American gifts\, art\, food\, and more. Plus! Take advantage of our special hands-on workshops\, including in African drumming\, capoeira\, dance\, paper crafts\, poetry\, and more. All free! SUMMARY:Meet John Adams! at The Lincoln Depot Museum
DESCRIPTION:Meet John Adams! \nSaturday\, May 16\, 2026 at 2:00 pm \nwith George Baker \nJoin us at the Lincoln Depot Museum as we welcome attorney\, Founding Father\, and President of the United States\, John Adams. A member of the 2nd Continental Congress and its Committee of Five – authors of the Declaration of Independence\, Adams played a crucial role not only in creating and editing the document\, but in  bringing about the support needed from the other delegates to pass it! Come hear John Adams himself\, assisted by attorney George Baker\, tell us how it happened. \nIn addition to speaking about his early life\, the Honorable Mr. Adams will recount stories about his legal defense of the British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre\, and some of the famous revolutionaries he knew during that tumultuous time: The most gallant George Washington\, the clever and industrious Henry Knox\, the brilliant but somewhat impetuous Alexander Hamilton\, Paul Revere\, John’s own cousin Sam\, and even an ally  he considered rather annoying\, Dr. Benjamin Franklin. \nPosterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation \nto preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. \nJohn Adams

SUMMARY:Borscht Belt Artifacts: Relics of the Catskill Resort Age
DESCRIPTION:“Borscht Belt Artifacts: Relics of the Catskill Resort Age” was first debuted by local author\, musician\, and historian Alex Prizgintas last November to a strong audience. “The history of the Borscht Belt\, particularly how it was a melting pot for so many cultures when it came to cuisine\, entertainment\, music\, and so many other aspects of American history” says Prizgintas. “What is even more tragic is how this history has vanished so quickly\, which is why I have dedicated myself to collecting relics from the old hotels\, resorts\, and bungalow colonies.” Since Prizgintas began collecting items from the Borscht Belt ten years ago\, awareness for this crucial aspect of our local past has rapidly expanded with the opening of the Borscht Belt Museum in Ellenville\, the ongoing Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project\, and a number of both films as well as books that have been published. “Seeing this history finally receiving the recognition it deserves is incredibly rewarding\, and I am honored to be a part of this new chapter for the memories of the Borscht Belt.” \nPrizgintas will share “Borscht Belt Artifacts: Relics of the Catskill Resort Age” with the Warner Library of Tarrytown\, NY on Saturday\, May 16th at 2:30 PM. An advisory board member of the new Borscht Belt Museum of Ellenville\, he did not live during the age of the grand hotels and bungalow colonies but is nonetheless fascinated by what artifacts remain. “Beyond their revolutionary architecture and nexus of cultures\, I was always drawn to how the Borscht Belt intersected with many of my other historical interests—principally railroads\,” says Prizgintas. “With thousands of items from each of an estimated 926 hotels and bungalow colonies\, this program covers a broad history of the Borscht Belt extending back to the earliest records of summer agricultural colonies in the late 1830s. From here\, I showcase five unique items from my personal collection that all have a special place amidst the hearts and hands that shaped this region of New York.” As a staple of all these lectures\, this event will feature displays of historical artifacts allowing the audience to visibly and tangibly view the region’s past.

SUMMARY:Borscht Belt Artifacts: Relics of The Catskill Resort Age
DESCRIPTION:Culture\, cuisine\, and comedy came together to form an intricate network of hotels\, bungalow colonies\, and resorts throughout New York’s Catskill Mountains. With a strong Jewish lineage\, the Borscht Belt came to be known as a distinctly American story—one represented by a diverse clientele that journeyed to the mountains in search of fellowship\, basking under the warmth of the summer sun. Now\, with the remaining hotel structures vanishing one by one\, it is through these remaining artifacts\, such as matchbooks\, silverware\, menus\, and even architectural details\, that this story can be shared. The lecture employs these relics to share with visitors the complete and complicated story of the Borscht Belt—one that extends before the Civil War and reveals the many industries\, as well as individuals\, that made it successful. \nPresented live and in-person by Alex Prizgintas. \nA historian\, musician\, and lecturer who focuses on the neglected history of the Catskills and Hudson Valley region\, Alex Prizgintas serves as president of the Woodbury Historical Society in Orange County\, New York\, and has been published in the Hudson River Valley Review and the New York Archives Magazine. A preservationist\, Alex stewards the Richard L. Benjamin Collection of Borscht Belt Tourism History\, which contains hundreds of documents\, postcards\, and ephemera from the Borscht Belt era. Many of these items will be brought to the lecture for attendees to view live. \nFree and open to all.

SUMMARY:"Among Neighbors" Film Screening (Special Event Release Version)
DESCRIPTION:In a town where history has been silenced\, an eyewitness to murder speaks out in search of the boy she loved. \nCombining magical realism with traditional documentary techniques\, Among Neighbors examines the mystery of a small\, rural town in Poland where people of two different faiths lived side by side for centuries — until the killing began. The film reveals both love and betrayal as it zeroes in on a crime committed among neighbors: the murder of Holocaust survivors\, six months after the end of World War II. The chilling facts revealed in this documentary have led the office of Poland’s nationalist president to call for a ban on the film. \nThe Special Event Release includes 25 minutes of additional content in the form of a brief introduction by its award-winning filmmaker Yoav Potash\, and an in-depth post-film Q&A compilation filmed live at sold-out screenings that reveals the fascinating making-of stories––as well as the ongoing controversy––behind this critically-acclaimed film.

She started studying piano at the age at 5 and grew up between Turin and Udine. At the age of 12 she studied with renowned concert pianist Maria Golia and obtained a degree in Music history at the Conservatory of Music in Torino\, Italy. After taking part to a series of piano competitions and concerts all over Italy such as Stresa\, Albenga\, Pinerolo\, Bobbio\, Udine etc. and winning several first prizes\, she took a performing hiatus and refined her teaching skills. \nTen years ago\, in 2015\, she moved to New York City and has worked as a Music teacher at La Scuola d’Italia\, a bilingual Italian-American school located on the Upper East Side and collaborated with many chamber ensembles and opera singers. She loves exposing herself to New Music and working with young living composers. In May 2024\, she took part to a concert dedicated to the music of French living composer David Chaillou and in March 2025 she collaborated with American composer and soprano singer Stephanie Susberich who presented her song cycle based on the poetry of cuban Juana Borrero. In the meantime\, she has refined her studies in Piano\, Music theory and Composition\, obtaining a Music degree from Hunter College in June 2024\, while taking part to several Masterclasses and Workshops\, including an intensive week in Composition at the Juilliard School in June 2023. \nBecause of her international identity\, Brenda is presenting two distinct but nevertheless interconnected piano programs which aim at promoting American and Italian composers both in Europe and the United States; her goal is to popularize less known musicians such as Anna Bon\, Teresa Procaccini\, William Grant Still\, Florence Price\, Tania Leon (winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Price in Music and Kennedy Center Honoree) and many more\, including her own piano compositions.
