SUMMARY:Art For Purchase
DESCRIPTION:This fall\, The Rye Arts Center once again transforms Purchase Street in Downtown Rye into an open-air art experience. This year’s edition runs longer than ever before\, stretching from September 17th through October 29th\, with a special opening reception planned for the evening of the 17th. Residents and visitors alike are invited to experience art woven seamlessly into the fabric of everyday life\, all autumn long. This year’s event is thoughtfully timed to coincide with beloved local happenings—such as the annual October window painting— creating exceptionally vibrant opportunities to celebrate local creativity while amplifying visibility for both artists and local merchants. \nArt for Purchase is a public art project that reimagines storefronts as intimate stages for local and regional artists\, cultivating a rich dialogue between creativity\, commerce\, and community. As you browse shop windows or linger along the sidewalk\, you’ll discover unexpected moments of inspiration—artworks that spark reflection and delight amid the hum of daily routines. These works don’t just beautify; they invite conversation\, connection\, and a deeper appreciation for the role art\, and local artists\, play in shaping cultural identity and supporting local vitality. \nBy showcasing original art in the heart of Rye’s commercial district\, the initiative brings together artists\, business owners\, and the broader community in a shared celebration of creativity and local enterprise.

SUMMARY:Kids Short Story Connection Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Creative Writing Thrives in Greenburgh! \nDoes your child love to read and write stories? Or do you know a child who does? September 19th is the kickoff date for the fall 2026 session of Saturday morning Kids Short Story Connection workshops. Thirty-three years ago\, the very first KSSC workshop was held in the Greenburgh Library with 10 kids between 9 and 12 years old. Today\, the Kids Short Story Connection meets at Greenburgh Town Hall (as well as over the Zoom platform). Young writers are assigned to workshops according to age and writing levels. This separation ensures that young writers meet in our round-table sessions with their creative-writing peers. All workshops are led by published authors/teachers. Each workshop has no more than 10 participants. This ensure that there is enough time for writing and sharing of work written during the workshop sessions. The two in-person workshops for kids between 9 and 14 meet at Greenburgh Town Hall on Saturday mornings from 10 am until 12 noon. The Advanced workshop for advanced writers 14 and over meets over the Zoom platform at the same time.

SUMMARY:Beyond Clay
DESCRIPTION:Each of these artists is known to us. They are our neighbors. Many have been in exhibitions at this institution. They all make exceptional work. Their energy\, craftsmanship\, vision are outstanding. Some make us laugh\, some just plain blow us away. Energy\, artistry\, and imagery all are here. Some are conceptional\, some more traditional. Each artist has a vision and a style\, a practice. Their chosen material(s) reflect their interest. Many started with clay and then moved to other media.\nClay by Joel Brown and Tony Moore. Both use wood fired kilns.\nFabric by Ruby Chisti\, Natasha Das\, and Liz Ndoye.\nMetal by Cal Lane\, Robert Spinazzola and Brian Walters.\nRecycled materials appear in many but notably by Carole Kunstadt while Khalil Chistee\nworks with trash bags (not recycled).\nWood is by Carla Rae Johnson and Soli Pierce.\nLaurie Sheridan and Franc Palaia both work with mixed media.\nAdam Niklewicz: his work is all about the idea!\nKurt Steger: He could be with wood or metal but mixed media works best.\nArtists: Joel Brown\, Khalil Chistee\, Ruby Chisti\, Natasha Das\, Carla Rae Johnson\, Carole\nKunstadt\, Cal Lane\, Tony Moore\, Liz Ndoye\, Adam Niklewicz\, Franc Palaia\, Soli Pierce\,\nLaurie Sheridan\, Robert Spinazzola\, Kurt Steger\, Brian Walters

SUMMARY:REV250: Neutral Ground - Westchester County in the American Revolution
DESCRIPTION:Neutral Ground\nWestchester County in the Revolution\nSaturday\, October 17\, 2026 at 2:00 pm\nwith Historian & Author Stephen P. DeVillo \nAfter the 1776 Battle of White Plains\, Westchester County became known as “Neutral Ground.” But there would be no peace here.\nOccupied by neither side\, in between the British holding New York City to the south and the Continental Army in the Hudson Highlands to the north\, it was a place where no one could safely remain neutral amid clashes by detachments of the contending armies\, as well as violence by groups of bandits\, vigilantes and partisans. Westchester County was a place of constant threat. No one was totally safe. Neighbors might become enemies. Oftentimes\, one couldn’t be certain where allegiances lay – if there were actually allegiances at all. Who was a patriot? Who was a loyalist? Who might be a spy? Who was only out for themselves? \nJoin us\, with local historian Stephen Paul DeVillo\, author of the book: Westchester County in the American Revolution\, as we examine and learn more about Westchester County’s divided Revolutionary history. \nAt The Lincoln Depot Museum\n10 S. Water St. Peekskill\, NY\nProgram at 2:00 pm\nMuseum Doors Open at 1:00 pm
