Women’s Leadership Council “Take a Walk in Her Shoes”
December 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm$125
United Way of Westchester and Putnam is hosting its annual “Take a Walk in Her Shoes” event virtually on Tuesday, December 8 from 6-7pm.
Maria M. Trusa, CEO of Formé Medical Center and Urgent Care, will be recognized with the 2020 Women’s Leadership Council “Woman of Distinction” Award for her work in leading the charge to provide health care services to the community’s most vulnerable, uninsured residents.
Trusa, an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, was the executive director of Scarsdale Medical Group where she worked for over 26 years. During her tenure, she transformed it from a six-physician and 35-employee practice to more than 45 physicians and over 200 employees.
In September 2015, Trusa joined Formé Medical Center as their CEO, bringing with her the vision to help the underserved and uninsured community gain access to affordable, transparent, and high-quality medical care.
“I am excited and truly honored to receive the “2020 Woman of Distinction Award” by United Way of Westchester and Putnam,” said Trusa. “I hope everyone joins me for the live-streamed conversation, which is a fundraiser to support all women, children and families affected by the ongoing pandemic and economic crisis.”
The event includes a panel discussion around the impact of diversity, equity, inclusion, and women. The panel will be moderated by Elizabeth Bracken-Thompson, Partner at Thompson & Bender and will feature Trusa as well as special guest Mecca E. Mitchell, Esq., Senior VP of Diversity and Community Relations at Westchester Medical Center and Former Chief Diversity Office for the State of New York.
Each participant will receive a “Gratitude Giftbag” signifying the commitment to assisting and empowering diverse women in the community. Included will be a delicious mezze tray of appetizers provided by Ladle of Love, a copy of Trusa’s book, “I Say No More,” and two splits of wine to enjoy during the virtual program. Sponsorship opportunities and virtual message board spaces are available.
