Women’s Circle: “Growing Up Jewish in Indonesia” with Senny Josephs
April 21 @ 5:45 pm - 7:15 pm
Free
A congregant-led discussion on topics of interest to Jewish Women and those who identify as Jewish Women.
This month: “Growing Up Jewish in Indonesia” with Senny Josephs
Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country, but unknown to many here in the United States, there is a small, but proud, Jewish population. Senny will share her experiences growing up in Indonesia as a Jew, and the lessons she learned from her parents. She will discuss what it means to be Jewish in different cultural contexts.
Senny Josephs was born in Indonesia, and lived in Muslim-dominant Java, and later in Hindu-dominant Bali. She is a Registered Nurse, and worked for the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, which brought her to many countries around the world. She has lived in the United States for 35 years and is grateful to be in a country where she can practice Judaism openly.
Guests are welcome. There is no charge for this program.
