TRANSFORMING SUFFERING INTO COMPASSION: INSIGHT AND BUDDHA NATURE
with John Baker and the Westchester Buddhist Center
Tuesday evenings, March 31st through June 16th, 2020
“The Way of the Buddha—Meditation and Insight” is a year-long foundation-level course in 3 semesters (Winter 2020, Spring 2020, and Fall 2020). Join us for Semester 2,“Transforming Suffering into Compassion—Insight, Egolessness and Buddha Nature,” as we continue to explore the path of mindfulness-awareness meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and skillfully transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time. We will cover topics fundamental to the Buddhist teachings such as the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Three Yana Path, the Buddhist Refuge, and the Bodhisattva path of compassion in the Mahayana, focusing on the techniques and stages of meditation and bringing meditation into our daily lives.
Students may enroll for the entire course (Winter 2020, Spring 2020, and Fall 2020), enroll for one semester only, or attend individual classes on a “drop-in’ basis.
This series is recommended for both beginning and experienced practitioners, and is designed to benefit participants whether or not they can attend regularly.
All sessions begin with 30 min. group meditation; instruction is offered in a separate room at the same time for anyone who wishes it.
Classes conclude with tea, snacks and conversation.
Instructors are available for 30-minute private discussions before class, by appointment.
Participants may attend individual classes on a drop-in basis.
All classes will be recorded and available on our website for those not able to attend any class in person.
If you have questions about the course, contact John Baker at jjoebaker @ gmail.com.
