The Ground Glass Road Show – An Outdoor Photography Exhibit
November 1 - November 29Free
The Ground Glass Photographers are on a Roll ! Undaunted by the Coronavirus Pandemic, the group’s members have taken their latest exhibit off the gallery walls, out the door and into the streets. The exhibit, known as “The Ground Glass Road Show,” started its travels at the Rye Art Center, in Rye, NY and is now on display outdoors at the Ossining Public Library thru November 29, 2020.
An opening reception with the photographers will be held on Saturday, November 7,
from 2 pm to 3 pm. in the Ossining Library parking lot. (Rain date: November 14)
Social distancing observed and masks required ! The event is free and open to the public.
“Our members are dedicated to presenting several annual exhibits,” commented Patrick Cicalo, President of the organization. “Despite closures, limitations on gathering, and social distancing requirements, we were determined not to give up our current show. We simply decided to take it outdoors and call it the Road Show !”
The Road Show represents the work of 20 photographers. Large photographic prints ( 36” x 48” and some even larger) on weatherproof material are displayed on the library’s parking lot fence and sidewalk railings. This type of exhibit is a significant departure from a typical gallery show where photographic images are often no larger than 16” x 20” in size.
“Artwork in public places is uplifting, so we were delighted the Ossining Library invited the Road Show exhibit,” commented Rita Baunok, Exhibit Chairperson for The Ground Glass. “These are difficult times for us all, so it’s exciting to see artistry and creativity thrive. People love a spontaneous event and will enjoy the beautiful images in this show.”
The photographs in the exhibit are available for sale in large or small sizes
Given the enthusiastic response to its first outdoor show, the Ground Glass is offering to make exhibits available to towns, venues or organizations interested in hosting future Ground Glass Road Shows. A preview of the Ground Glass road Show appears on the association’s website, thegroundglass.org.
