The Geography of Race: Sharing Our Journeys of the Heart
May 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Join REPAIR (Rivertowns Episcopal Parishes Action on Inclusion and Race) on Wednesday, May 15th, 7:30-9:00 PM, at Trinity Church, Ossining, for the group’s next meeting.
REPAIR members will share three very different, very personal stories of race, recounting moments when they faced painful challenges, describing how they responded, and exploring the insights that have impacted their lives ever since.
Attendees will be invited to reflect on and respond to the stories and, if they want, will be able to share a moment from their own journey toward deeper self-knowledge and understanding around race.
At the April meeting, many participants were enlightened, moved, and troubled by Alvin Hall’s remarkable presentation about The Green Book and the perils of “traveling while Black.”
Reflecting on what the group learned has helped members understand that each person has traveled a difficult racial road–some carrying burdens of exclusion or discrimination, others burdens of privilege and the blindness that often goes with it.
Free. All are welcome. No religious affiliation or belief required. Snacks will be served.
The church is located at 7 South Highland Avenue, Ossining, NY.
