Shibori Workshop
June 21 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
$25
Instructed by Katrin Reifeiss
This Japanese Shibori workshop is a hands-on exploration of this traditional dyeing art. Participants will learn a variety of Shibori techniques such as Itajime (folding-and-clamping), binding, and pole-wrapping. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different methods and leave with their own unique hand-dyed pieces. Most importantly, they’ll experience the joy and appreciation for the art of Shibori and the creative possibilities it offers.
Participants should bring items from home to dye—anything 100% white cotton, linen, hemp, silk, or a blend of these fibers. Ideas of items to bring include tea towels, clothing, pillowcases, scarves, tablecloths, etc. Please do not bring anything too large, like a duvet cover, as the dye pot will not be large enough to dye an item that size. Older or stained items are also welcome, as the dye can give them new life! Whether new or old, all items must be pre-washed before the workshop.
