Please join us for the 2024 Slapering Hol Press Chapbook Contest Winner Jemma Leigh Roe as she reads from her new book Running with the Hare, along with along with Aaron Caycedo-Kimura & Sally Bliumis Dunn. This reading will be held in person at the Hudson Valley Writers Center and live streamed via Zoom. Audience members will receive a reminder email with the Zoom link on the day of the reading.

Jemma Leigh Roe is a poet and visual artist. Her debut chapbook, Running with the Hare, won the 2024 Slapering Hol Press Chapbook Competition. She holds a PhD from Princeton University.

Aaron Caycedo-Kimura is a writer, visual artist, and teacher. He is the author of two poetry books: the full-length collection Common Grace (Beacon Press, 2022) and Ubasute, winner of the 2020 Slapering Hol Press Chapbook Competition. He is also the author and illustrator of the nonfiction book Text, Don’t Call: An Illustrated Guide to the Introverted Life (TarcherPerigee, 2017). His honors include a MacDowell Stanford Calderwood Fellowship, a Robert Pinsky Global Fellowship in Poetry, a Connecticut Office of the Arts Artist Fellowship Award, and a St. Botolph Club Foundation Emerging Artist Award in Literature. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous anthologies and journals, including Beloit Poetry Journal, RHINO, The Cincinnati Review, Consequence, Shenandoah, Gordon Square Review, Cave Wall, and elsewhere. Caycedo-Kimura earned his MFA from Boston University and teaches creative writing at Trinity College.

Sally Bliumis-Dunn teaches at The 92nd Street Y and is Associate Editor at-large for Plume Poetry. In 2002, she was a finalist for the Nirmrod/Hardman Pablo Neruda Prize. Her poems appeared in The Dodge, New Ohio Review, The Paris Review, Prairie Schooner, PLUME, Poetry London, the NYT, PBS NewsHour, upstreet, The Writer’s Almanac, Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-day, and Ted Kooser’s column, among others. Her third book, ECHOLOCATION, was on the long list for the Julie Suk Award in 2019, a finalist for the Eric Hoffer and a Runner-up for the Poets by the Sea Prize.
