This holiday season, The Pocantico Center and Anywhere Theatre Company invite families to blast off into a hilarious, high-energy, intergalactic adventure like no other. Rumpelstiltskin in Space! is a brand-new science fiction adventure musical blending interactive theater, original music, dazzling visuals, and slapstick laughs that will leave kids and families beaming with joy!
In this futuristic twist on the classic fairy tale, Rumpelstiltskin has traded spinning wheels for spaceships. Now a clever trickster rogue, he zooms through galaxies under the command of the all-powerful Space Witch. Alongside loyal sidekicks Oscar the AI program and Cosmo, the snarky Space Slug, Rumpelstiltskin searches the universe for “Star Shifters” who can transform starlight into gold. Once he tricks them with his clever riddles, he takes them back to the Space Witch to spin starlight into gold…forever!
But when he meets Stella Nova, a young shifter with a galactic heart, everything changes. Will he continue his tricks or find the courage to rewrite his destiny?
Directed and written by Peter Royston, Rumpelstiltskin in Space! takes folklore and fairy tales into the future with infectious music by folk-rock band The Altogether, colorful costumes and projected sets by artist Keni Thomas (aka thomcat23), and plenty of interactive adventure for everyone.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for preshow art making. Families can create masks, crafts, and sock puppets based on Rumpelstiltskin in Space! that can be used in the show!
