“Protect Your Eyes” A Sound Performance by Maya Perry

A composition formed over time featuring songs written and inspired by the relation between natural disasters and moments so unspeakable they slip into a form of abstraction, often done through a process in which lyrics and sounds are repeated and looped.

Inspired by the concept of “Crip Time” and Ellen Samuel’s essays on time and the disabled body, Perry’s installation features a dismantled drum kit reflecting on these concepts of breakage and intimacy.
