Music of Love by the Croton Chorale

June 1 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

$10 – $20

On Saturday evening June 1st, the Croton Chorale will perform “Music of Love” featuring vocal compositions that explore the many manifestations of love.
“When music of love is mentioned, the first thought is usually of romantic love, and our program will include compositions such as madrigals that celebrate amorous love,” said the Chorale’s conductor, Bob Collins, “but we will also present expressions of Christian love through hymns and sacred pieces, and of patriotic love toward one’s country.”
The program’s sacred pieces will include well-known hymns “Blest Be the Tie That Binds” and “What Wondrous Love Is This”. Madrigals from 16th and 17th century Europe will include Thomas Greaves’ “Come away, sweet love.” Patriotic works will include Gustav Holst’s “I vow to thee, my country” and C. Hubert Parry’s “Jerusalem”.
The concert will be hosted by Asbury United Methodist Church at 17 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson at 8:00 P.M. Suggested donations, which benefit the Croton Caring Committee, are $20, $10 for seniors or students, with children under 12 welcomed free. The concert will be simulcast on Zoom at 932 9473 6778 and conclude the group’s 24th season.
Croton Chorale is a community choir and orchestra founded in the year 2000 to bring Handel’s Messiah to the village of Croton at Christmas time. New members who delight in making magnificent music are always welcome. The 30-voice chorus, conducted by Collins, has a tradition of presenting its concerts as benefits for local non-profit organizations.
