Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital Offers Bike Safety and Helmet Check to Help Keep Children Safe

Proper fitting helmets can prevent injuries in falls or accidents
WHEN: Tuesday, August 10, 2021, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
WHAT: Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), will hold a bike safety and helmet checkpoint to educate families on the proper fit of bicycle helmets. Injury prevention experts will answer questions about proper use of bike helmets and will share other bicycle safety tips.
Riding without a bicycle helmet or with an improperly fitting one significantly increases the risk of sustaining a head injury in the event of a crash, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
WHERE: Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla NY
WHO: At this free community event, experts from Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital will demonstrate proper bicycle helmet use and fit. No appointment is required. Children of all ages and their parents/caregivers are welcome.
A limited supply of free helmets will be available.
Event will not be held if raining.
