Maeve Gilchrist, Celtic Harpist, at TCCC

Hailed by the Irish times in its five-star review as “Buoyant, sprightly and utterly beguiling….a snapshot of a musician at the top of her game,” harpist, singer, and composer Maeve Gilchrist straddles the worlds of folk and classical.

“…a phenomenal harp player who can make her instrument ring with unparalleled purity,” Maeve has taken the Celtic (lever) harp to new levels of performance and visibility. Her program will include selections from her latest recording, The Harpweaver.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Maeve‘s innovative approach to her instrument stretches its harmonic limits and improvisational possibilities. She has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Yo-Yo Ma, Frankie Gavin, Esperanza Spalding, Bruce Molsky, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Solas. She tours internationally as a solo artist and composer.

Maeve is the co-music director of the WGBH holiday show, a Christmas Celtic Sojourn, and the co-artistic director of the Rockport Celtic Music Festival, a new innovative festival focused on cross-curation and the outer-fringes of Celtic Music.
