Got My Wings

Creative Alliance Project and Westchester Ballet Company presents a program of
original music and dance, ‘ Got My Wings’, inspired by the life and writings of Jarvis Jay
Masters, a Buddhist practitioner and innocent man on death row in San Quentin State Prison.
Got My Wings was created by Daniel Blake, jazz composer and saxophonist,
with choreographer, Tomiko Magario, to call attention to the broken carceral
system and the inhumane treatment of incarcerated people, and to communicate
Jarvis Jay Masters’ personal journey from anger and despair to inner peace, while in
solitary confinement, working to establish his innocence. Each performance will be followed by a panel of formerly
incarcerated men and women, who will answer questions and share their experiences.
Creative Alliance Project encourages broad community involvement in the arts as a means to promote equity and justice.
Westchester Ballet Company, a not-for-profit based in Ossining, is renowned for its high
level of classical training and professional productions. The presentation will take place at Katonah United Methodist Church auditorium, 5 Bedford Rd. Katonah for
three performances, Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:00 pm, Sat., Feb. 4 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, Feb.
5 at 2:00 pm.
