Getting Started with Memoir Writing
Are you inspired to begin to write about the transforming events of your life? Are you drawn to explore the circumstances surrounding your most vivid memories? This four-hour workshop offers a supportive and safe environment designed to help you get started. We’ll be talking about memoir, writing in class and sharing for constructive feedback. You will leave with a new work-in-progress and some insights into the stories you want to tell.

This class will take place IN PERSON at HVWC, located at the Philipse Manor RR station in Sleepy Hollow, NY. (The HVWC is a short, scenic train ride from NYC on MetroNorth’s Hudson line. We are located in the former depot. No car needed!) The class will be capped at 10 students. Please read our course policies page before registering for any HVWC class.

Susan Hodara has been teaching memoir writing workshops since 2002 and writing memoir for more than twenty years. Her short pieces have been published in a variety of literary journals and anthologies, and she is co-author of the collaborative memoir Still Here Thinking of You: A Second Chance With Our Mothers (Big Table Publishing, 2013).
