Free May Walking Tours at Kensico Cemetery

Friends of Kensico Cemetery, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is offering free historical and nature walking tours throughout May from 5:30–7:00 PM. These guided experiences invite guests to explore the cemetery’s rich history, natural beauty, and fascinating stories.

Historical tours, led by Patrick Raftery of the Westchester County Historical Society, include:

Lake View Tour (May 6 & 8): Discover artists, architects, swindlers, and the man who revolutionized the sandwich.

Ossipee Loop Tour (May 13): Highlights include a baseball legend, circus intrigue, and a Broadway angel.

Tower Loop Tour (May 20): Featuring a Titanic mystery, subway surprise, and a Twinkies tribute.

Tree & Landscape Tour (May 22 & 27): Part of Kensico’s Level II Arboretum designation. Learn about local species, invasive plants, a 170-year-old oak, and the mystery of “tree knees.” Led by certified arborists David Prosser and Mike Cook.

Tours are free, but reservations are required at kensico.org/eve
