Exciting Discoveries in Art History via Zoom
June 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Who doesn’t love learning about a priceless painting found in an attic? Or a sculpture sitting for decades in a public garden, only to be discovered that it’s a Renaissance treasure? After finding her own art history discovery when uncovering the provenance of an Auguste Rodin sculpture sitting inside the Hartley Dodge Memorial town hall in New Jersey, Mallory Mortillaro, Art Historian and educator, learned just how many times this has occurred. Her lecture explores the stories of ten different important and valuable works of art that has been rediscovered in unexpected places. The program explores a brief background of each piece, the artist, and how the piece was lost and then found. Registration begins May 20 via the library’s Web site. The Zoom link will be sent out one day prior to the program.
