Everybody’s Reading “The Legend”: An All-Community Read Celebrating The Sketchbook Bicentennial

September 16 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Come join us in celebrating the 200th anniversary of Washington Irving’s classic tale, The Legend of
Sleeping Hollow. You know the story…but have you read it? The Tarrytown Historical Society and
Warner Library have been hosting discussion groups throughout the spring and summer, and
now you can participate at Washing Irving’s home church. Where else would provide such a perfect location to explore this haunting, very funny (short) literary classic? Come visit, and you can even sit in his favorite pew!

We’ll have fun talking about Washington Irving’s Dutch local characters of yore and the ‘adventures’ of that unique character Ichabod Crane. As an added treat, we will provide 19th century Dutch treats for refreshment. Copies of the book can be downloaded for free at www.warnerlibrary.org/shlegend200 or you can check out a copy at the Warner Library where they have multiple copies on hand.
