Sept. 29 – Max Beckmann: The Formative Years, 1915-1925 – Oct 5, 2023 -Jan. 15, 2024 at Neue Galerie (New York) Focusing on the shift in social commentary that occurred in Beckmann’s work during this crucial decade, the exhibit will feature approximately 100 works by this German Expressionist artist, comprising major paintings, drawings, and prints. Key topics are Portraiture and the Self-Portrait, Religious Paintings, Allegory, Still Lifes, Landscapes, and Social Life in early Weimar Germany.
