Unburying My Father by Zander Masser
Randy Masser was a New York based photographer who began his career in New York City and then out of his basement studio in Chappaqua, NY. Randy, a hemophiliac, contracted HIV and died in 2000. Masser’s son, Zander is creating a narrative photography book, and in the process, unburying his father’s history and photography collection and his own buried story.
Randy Masser photographed the Alvin Ailey Dance company and artfully captured everyday scenes of life. He was the Chappaqua go-to photographer and took photos of children playing baseball throughout the 1990’s. The baseball diamond at Wagon Road Camp was renamed “Randy Masser Field”. This author talk/ exhibition celebrates his life, his work and the town that embraced his artistry.
