Books & Bridles: The Story of The Horse Back Librarians
August 8 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
During the Great Depression, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) was known for its many massive infrastructure projects and improvements. But it also consisted of a little-known program called the Pack Horse Library Project. This virtual presentation tells the story of the Pack Horse Librarians, a relatively small group of women, whose mission was to deliver and distribute reading materials to the far-off corners of Appalachia during the darkest hours of the Depression.
Presented by Jeffrey Urbin, Education Specialist from the FDR Presidential Library & Museum, located in Hyde Park, NY.
Hosted on Zoom. Free and open to all. Register here (copy and paste the link into your browser): https://bit.ly/3aAADTX.
