Historical Walking Tour

Henry Steiner, village historian of Sleepy Hollow, will host a free, informal, one-hour walking tour on the subjects of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the capture of Major Andre.

Those interested in learning about the historical background for America’s favorite legend can meet Mr. Steiner at the Captors’ Monument at Patriots’ Park (next to Warner Library) on Sunday, February 17, at noon.

Washington Irving set his story on the scene of his teenaged rambles in our community, and he chose to anchor the climax at our most significant historic site –where Major Andre was captured during the Revolutionary War. The walking tour will end at the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow – less than two tenths of a mile. Bring your questions and comfortable shoes. In the event of inclement weather there is currently no rain date scheduled. For more information, contact 914-631-8976.
