At Village Hall on Sunday, January 29, Democratic Party Chair Carole Griffiths called for nominations for the 3 Trustee seats that will be contested on March 21, 2006.
Dennis Chillemi and Susan Burkhardt will not stand for election this time, but Deputy Mayor Tom Basher will seek his 8th term. Running with Basher will be former School Board President Mary McGee and Current Captain of the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Robert Hoyt.
Basher has served the Village for 14 years as Village Trustee with two terms as Deputy Mayor. Tom has been a member of the Fire Department for over twenty years, is a past President of the Lyceum Club, and was very active in helping to remove the Asphalt plant from the Ferry Landings property.
Tom is President of Laser Print Inc. at 54 Main St., has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Pace University and is a long time Tarrytown resident. Tom has two grown children and is married to Anne Marie Basher.
Hoyt, has been a member of the Ambulance Corps for 8 years, and a Member of the Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years. He is Vice President of Consolidated Engine Company and in 2005 was named the “Top Rider” for hours and calls in the Ambulance Corps. He is the father of four, is a life long member of the community and has worked since 1996 at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., located at the old Union Carbide headquarters near the Tarrytown Lakes. He is currently Manager of Logistics.
Mary McGee has long been associated with the School System, serving on the School Board from 1992 to 2004. Mary was Board President from 2001 through 2003. She was an active member of the PTA from 1982 through 2002. She is currently Chair of the Village Board’s Education Committee. Mary is married, has three grown children who all attended the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, and has been at her current address for the last 21 years.
