John Claredon Twitty

We wish to acknowledge the passing of John Claredon Twitty, born on January 17, 1919 in North Tarrytown. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II and afterwards received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from New York University.

imagesTwitty worked as an editor for both "Ebony" and "Jet" magazines and also worked for the United States Information Services as a Foreign Service Cultural Officer, traveling extensively through Africa and the Caribbean Islands.

Mr. Twitty was 87 at the time of his death and living in Washington, D.C. Locally, he is survived by niece Julia Fullenweider of Tarrytown, and grand nephew, Westchester Supreme Court Justice Bruce Tolbert.
