Astorino Congratulates 14 Westchester Farms

Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino is proud to announce that 14 Westchester County farms have been named to The “Westchester-Grown” Farm Trail by New York State. The farm trail is a state designated route that spans 17 miles through Westchester County, including farms in Sleepy Hollow to North Salem.

The efforts to create the “Westchester-Grown” Farm Trail as a New York State Farm Trail have been made by the Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm, Inc. and the Westchester County Office of Film & Tourism. The trail is dedicated to local farmers who grow crops and raise animals locally.

“The ‘Westchester-Grown’ Farm Trail will provide an opportunity to both Westchester residents and visitors to see and taste some of the county’s freshest products and provide important support to participating farmers and producers as well,” said County Executive Astorino. “Thank you to the Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm, Inc. and the Westchester County Office of Film & Tourism for their hard work to make this farm trail a reality.”

Natasha Caputo, Westchester County’s Director of Tourism and Film, said the “Westchester-Grown” Farm Trail will not only draw tourists into Westchester County who want to visit our many farms but will also encourage travel throughout the county to restaurants, breweries and local food purveyors. “This trail builds upon the county’s historic agricultural roots and cultural richness and showcases the collaboration of wonderful farms and businesses in our county.”

Many of these farms and farmers have a long history with the county with strong ties to the community and are supported by local shops and restaurants, which will be designated as the Friends of the “Westchester-Grown” Farm Trail.  All Friends of the trail are committed to supporting these farms, their farmers, the community and the farm-to-table movement. A list of participating food and beverage businesses who embrace The Westchester Grown Trail will be listed on the county’s Farm and Restaurant website.
